About this event

Join us for a new chapter, as NAMI Washtenaw County's Mental Health Book Club dives into a new topic: music and our minds. In November and December, participants will discuss Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness, edited by Renée Fleming. With contributors ranging from neuroscientists and psychotherapists to artists and musicians, Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness is a collection of essays that explore the physical and mental health benefits of music. Renée Fleming, who curated and edited the anthology, is a world-renowned soprano and dedicated arts and health advocate. In collaboration with the Kennedy Center and National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fleming launched Sound Health in 2016-an initiative to advance research on music and the brain. We'll cover the first half in November and the second half in December. This event is held in partnership with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Washtenaw County . L
