- ➤ The Junior League of Ann Arbor will host its first CommuniTEA event on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Venue by 4M (1919 S. Industrial Hwy), offering networking, brunch and a fundraiser for local volunteer projects. MLive
- ➤ Ypsilanti was named a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists through 2029, following improvements such as new bike lanes, a pedestrian crossing over I-94, and upgraded trails. City officials invite residents to join local efforts to enhance travel for pedestrians + cyclists. MLive
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A gas leak was reported at West Ellsworth Road and South State Street on Thursday, Feb. 12 (near the Ann Arbor-Pittsfield Township border), prompting U-M Public Safety to advise residents to avoid the area while officials continue to monitor the situation. MLive
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Ten small businesses in Washtenaw County, including Moonwinks Café and Tavern, have been named honorees in the Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards and will be celebrated at a gala in East Lansing in April. Winners include companies in fields such as neuroscience education and cybersecurity. MLive
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ HGTV has canceled Rehab Addict after Michigan native Nicole Curtis reportedly used a racial slur while filming two years ago. Curtis apologized on Instagram and said her focus is on family and community. ClickOnDetroit.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Washtenaw County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority approved a $300M tax-capture deal on Feb. 12 to fund infrastructure and parking for the Arbor South development at State Street and Eisenhower Parkway. The plan now goes to the County Board for review as mixed use projects including affordable housing are planned. MLive
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Tom Stegeman's team presented plans on Thursday, Feb. 12 for a five-story mixed-use development at 3003-3031 Washtenaw Ave that will replace a BP gas station and vacant commercial buildings with 87 apartments (including workforce housing) and ground-floor retail. The project now awaits a brownfield plan looking toward city approval. MLive
