- ➤ Ann Arbor and other Washtenaw County venues host St. Patrick’s Day events from March 14 to 17 with Irish music, dancers + food specials. Conor O’Neill’s and multiple local bars plan festive gatherings with live shows and giveaways. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Michigan teachers and parents are worried about federal cuts that may reduce funding for under-resourced schools — state officials have joined a lawsuit against job cuts that could further impact K-12 education. MLive
- ➤ Five Ann Arbor schools—including Lakewood, Lawton, Wines, and Burns Park—are hosting open houses later this month and in early April to share plans for rebuilds and new construction, with Lawton set for a new build that will break ground in 2026. The events are part of Ann Arbor Public Schools’ next phase of a $1 billion capital bond approved by voters in 2019. MLive
- ➤ High school students from Ypsilanti will travel to Houston on April 6 to compete in a global NASA culinary contest that challenges them to create a pasta dish safe for space, and their dish may be served on the International Space Station if they win top prizes. The team, guided by Chef Aaron Gaertner, can also earn up to $15,000 in scholarship money if they place among the top competitors. WXYZ
- ➤ Eastern Michigan University officials announced a national search for a new president as current president James M. Smith will step down at the end of his term in June 2026. Illinois-based firm Wittkieffer, which has led over 140 similar searches nationwide, will head the process—officials said. MLive

- ➤ Bryce Underwood, the top-ranked quarterback recruit from Belleville, said on a national radio show he hopes to win a couple of Heisman trophies and at least one national title for Michigan.
