- ➤ Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken opened at 2272 S. Main St. near Woodland Plaza in Ann Arbor in January to serve hand-battered chicken, Bibimbap, Tteokbokki and Bulgogi to locals. Franchisee Gaby Coleman said the restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday — a new dining option for students and residents — and plans to bring a taste of South Korea to the community. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Educators at Haisley Elementary on Duncan St. reported a shortage of teaching assistants due to high turnover and recruitment challenges—prompting the district to work on filling the vacancies. MLive
- ➤ On March 14th, the University of Michigan opened the Center for Community Archaeology and Heritage to support community engagement in archaeology and heritage research. The center offers resources—such as funding, training and events—for faculty, students and local groups and hosted interactive sessions on March 15th for both in-person and virtual participants. - ➤ Michigan ended its three-game losing streak by beating Purdue 86-68 in the Big Ten Tournament opener in Indianapolis on March 14th. The Wolverines advanced to today's semifinals against Maryland—Danny Wolf scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Michigan took control early in the game. MLive
- ➤ Michigan’s football program improved its name, image and likeness programs with new partnerships led by general manager Sean Magee and Coach Sherrone Moore to keep top players in Ann Arbor. Former athletes described a shift in payments and support at the NFL combine (their changes helped the team prepare for the NFL draft season). MLive
- ➤ Michigan football added veteran defensive line coach David Denham to assist Lou Esposito ahead of spring practice starting Tuesday in Ann Arbor—Denham previously coached defensive tackles at Charlotte last season and spent five seasons at Western Michigan. MLive
