- ➤ Owner Jon Carlson's Western-themed honky-tonk, The Ranch, opens Thursday, March 26 at 122 W. Washington St. The new bar features horse-saddle seats, animal heads & vintage photos, promising live music and cocktails served in 10-gallon hat bowls for a fun, playful vibe. MLive

- ➤ Blue Origin astronaut Aisha Bowe will headline TEDxWCC at Washtenaw Community College on April 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Morris Lawrence Building, where she joins five other speakers to share diverse ideas on local innovation. MLive
- ➤ At the University of Michigan Medical School, 100% of graduating students matched to residencies at a Match Day ceremony on March 20 at North Campus Research Complex — over one quarter will remain in Michigan while the rest join programs in 26 states, including California and Illinois. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor Public Schools held a safety forum on Monday, Mar. 23 at Pioneer High School where officials reviewed holistic safety measures, including drills and visitor management systems — and advised parents to prepare key questions for intake meetings with counselors and principals. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ann Arbor will resume its weekly curbside compost pickup on Monday, April 6 with new compost carts featuring bright green lids being gradually phased in — residents do not need to replace existing carts unless damaged. MLive
- ➤ On March 23, a judge ruled in favor of the Washtenaw County Road Commission, which will remove 42 trees along Werkner Road near downtown Chelsea for road widening and drainage improvements—flaggers will manage brief traffic delays, and removal must be completed before April 1 to protect migrating wildlife.
