- ➤ Two former student-athletes at the University of Michigan filed a class-action lawsuit in federal court on Friday against the school, its board of regents, a third-party vendor and former offensive coordinator Matt Weiss for allegedly hacking their private photos—seeking more than $100 million in damages—and the suit claims the university failed to supervise Weiss during his employment. The suit covers allegations of unauthorized computer access from 2015 to 2023—allegedly leading to security lapses—and follows Weiss’s dismissal amid a police report of suspicious computer activity. - ➤ At a City Council budget meeting on March 24, sustainability and innovations office director Missy Stults said Ann Arbor risks losing $32 million for climate and equity initiatives—shifts in Michigan’s political landscape complicate future funding. The discussion highlighted mixed prospects as local leaders adjust to changing state and national priorities. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor officials said some parts of the east side may experience longer fire response times as the city will operate with one less fire station for the next year. Fire Department Chief Mike Kennedy said the extreme southeast area will be most affected—emergency responses there may be slower. MLive
- ➤ A group of GOP lawmakers asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review Michigan’s voter-approved constitutional amendments that allow early voting, absentee ballots and automatic registration.
