- ➤ Miss Kim, an Ann Arbor restaurant, received a $25,000 national grant from the Independent Restaurant Coalition and Chase Innovator Awards to support its fair-wage and career development programs + expand its community-focused business practices. It is one of 40 nationwide recipients. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ann Arbor Public Schools are reviewing options to renew their sinking fund tax amid a 44% rise in construction costs that is delaying new builds — the board will decide on millage rates, renewal terms and election timing soon, with further discussions scheduled at the Apr. 8 meeting. MLive
- ➤ The University of Michigan will honor six students who died last year with a Campus Memorial at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 in the Anderson Room at the Michigan Union—friends, family and campus partners are invited; a light reception will follow in the Opera Lounge. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor Public Schools named Anté Britten as its new CFO, effective March 27. The former UM administrator and local parent will manage the district's budget and upcoming teacher contracts during a challenging financial period + focus on transparency and accountability. MLive
- ➤ Kent Syverud was selected as the next University of Michigan president, coming from a long career as a respected law professor. He will begin his five-year term on July 1, after serving at Vanderbilt and Washington University (known for his mentorship and focus on students). MLive
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The Ann Arbor Housing Commission has received $118.6 million in state funding for a 20-story affordable housing high-rise at 350 S.-Fifth Ave. Downtown, the project will add 329 apartments with community rooms and co-working space for low-to-moderate income residents. MLive
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Michigan's hockey team won a 4-3 game on Sunday in Albany — the win clinched a Frozen Four berth — and will face Denver on April 9 at T‑Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, two wins from its first national title since 1998. MLive
- ➤ The Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association announced its Dream Team for the 2025 to 26 season, recognizing top high school boys swimmers and divers across 12 events and naming Swimmers, Divers, and Coaches of the Year during finals on March 13 at Oakland University Natatorium. - ➤ Michigan basketball made it to the Final Four for the first time in eight years after a 95-62 win over Tennessee on Sunday, March 29 at United Center in Chicago. The players celebrated with enthusiasm + noted their tough journey from an 8-24 season + a renewed fighting spirit. MLive
- ➤ Michigan football received a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Sidney Rouleau of Brock Hill School Sunday night. He joined six other recent commits after an unofficial visit and re-offer from coach Jim Harding, pushing Michigan’s recruiting class to No. 16 nationally. MLive
