- ➤ Four class-action lawsuits were filed in federal court last week naming former assistant coach Matt Weiss and the University for allegedly hacking into student databases to steal sensitive personal and medical records, with current and former student-athletes and a former gymnast seeking a trial for monetary damages. MLive
- ➤ Police responded to an apartment complex in Superior Township Friday, March 28 after a woman attempted to run over her neighbor with a car, arriving at (9:08 p.m.) and launching an investigation into a felony assault report. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Michigan is building a new 200,000 square foot recreation center along Washtenaw Avenue that will open in fall and offer pools, gym courts and a jogging track. The center is named for donors Philip and Nicole Hadley (who gave $20 million) and is designed to earn LEED Platinum certification (UM officials reported). MLive
- ➤ The University of Michigan closed its Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and its Office for Health Equity and Inclusion on March 27 - a move that ended its DEI 2.0 Strategic Plan - and will likely lead to 20 staff layoffs as student services shift to other departments. Faculty and community members held an online meeting on March 28 to protest the changes and plan events to address the decision. MLive

- ➤ The University of Michigan construction project is closing Hill Street from South Fifth Avenue to South Division Street today at 7 a.m. for a utility lead service installation. Detours (eastbound via South Main Street and Packard Street, westbound via Packard Street, East Madison Street, and South Fifth Avenue) are in place until 7 p.m. Monday, April 7. MLive
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood is impressing teammates at Michigan two weeks into spring practice — his strong work ethic and sharp throws have drawn praise. Michigan coaches have not yet named a starter for this fall — Underwood competes with veteran Mikey Keene and sophomore Jadyn Davis for the job. MLive
- ➤ Sam Walters entered the transfer portal after a back injury ended his only season at Michigan, playing in 23 games with an average of 12.7 minutes and a 37% three-point shooting rate + he became the third Wolverine to transfer this month + Michigan added a North Carolina transfer. MLive
- ➤ Michigan added its first transfer this offseason as North Carolina point guard Elliot Cadeau (6-foot-1) committed on Monday after Michigan’s season ended in the Sweet 16. Cadeau played all 37 games last season (averaging 9.4 points, 6.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds) and will compete for the starting point guard spot next season. MLive
- ➤ Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito backed former Wolverines tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant at the NFL Scouting Combine after a season of strong plays, including an upset victory over Ohio State. Graham is projected to be the third overall pick while Grant is seen in mid-first-round selections—both showed revived draft appeal after a strong pro day on March 21st. MLive
