The Vanguard Hotel, a luxury 188 room hotel near the University of Michigan, will open on Tuesday, May 13 in a nine story building at 201 Glen Avenue between Catherine and Ann streets.

The new hotel has been planned for over a decade and will offer event spaces for meetings and functions.

Kimani Angelo Hamilton, 30, pleaded guilty to slicing a man's neck in downtown Ann Arbor and was sentenced to one year in jail + two years probation, with Judge Carol Kuhnke giving him credit for 283 days already served.

Farmer Jacob Haas helped save 216 acres near Ann Arbor by donating a conservation easement to Legacy Land Conservancy—this easement permanently protects his farm, woods and wetlands from future development.
