CULTURE NEWS

  • On Sunday, April 12, Ann Arbor hosted its annual FestiFools parade featuring giant papier-mâché puppets and lively floats, with the theme Back to the FOOLfuture following Friday night’s FoolMoon street party downtown.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Michigan graduate programs earned top-15 national placements with multiple top-five rankings and four fields ranked No.1, according to an April 7 University Record update. The rankings detail strong showings in programs like education and public health, positioning UM ahead of several top national peers.  MLive

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Pittsfield Township is transitioning from its farming roots to a thriving suburb with new housing, retail, and business projects, including a redesigned Briarwood Mall property with 370 luxury apartments and Harvest Market opening April 15. Officials will update the town’s master plan by next year (community feedback is welcome).  MLive

  • Michigan's athletic director Warde Manuel said he reached a new contract deal with head coach Dusty May during Saturday's national championship celebration at Crisler Center. He confirmed May will remain the team’s leader for many years.  MLive
  • Michigan hockey star T.J. Hughes (13) signed a one-year entry-level deal with the Colorado Avalanche for the 2026–27 season and will join their AHL affiliate Colorado Eagles for the rest of the season; he led his team to a Big Ten Tournament title.  MLive
