- ➤ A candlelight vigil will honor late UM researcher Danhao Wang, who died March 20, at 8 p.m. Friday, April 17 at the northwest Diag corner on South State Street—CODEPINK organizers say attendees should bring candles and flowers, and the vigil will end around 9:30 p.m. MLive
- ➤ More than 190 residents formed a line outside Ben & Jerry’s at 304 S. State St on Tuesday, April 14 for Free Cone Day, where patrons received free ice cream until 8 p.m. The store also partnered with the Sigma Kappa sorority to support an Alzheimer’s fundraiser. MLive
- ➤ Chasing the Rainbows will hold the Bursting Bubble Awareness Walk on Sunday, May 3 at Prospect Park (550 N. Prospect Road) in Ypsilanti from 2 to 4 p.m. It supports families grieving pregnancy and infant loss and costs $35 for adults and $30 for children 8 to 17. MLive

- ➤ Comedian Dan Mintz, the voice of Tina Belcher on Bob's Burgers, is set to perform standup at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase from May 15 to 16 at 212 S. Fourth Ave — he will debut his new animated hour special Well-Rounded Entertainer on YouTube May 20. MLive
- ➤ Country singer Morgan Wallen will perform at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on July 24 and 25 with special guests Thomas Rhett, Hudson Westbrook, Blake Whiten & HARDY; fans can purchase tickets online. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents on the old west side say deer sightings in yards have increased since the city ended its management program after culls in January 2020 — raising concerns about tick exposure. The city offers guidelines for deterring deer and reducing Lyme disease risks, with no plans to reinstate the program. MLive
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Avalon Housing plans to finish converting a fire-damaged building at 206 N. Washington St into a 22-unit affordable housing complex in Ypsilanti in September; eight units will aid people exiting homelessness + residents will have access to case management and medical care. MLive
- ➤ Testing on Friday, Apr. 10 found that methane levels exceeded state thresholds at the Old Manchester Road site in Chelsea + officials halted plans for 92 affordable units and will review other sites using environmental reviews. MLive
