- ➤ Ann Arbor was recognized as one of the top-100 best places to live by Livability.com, ranking in the upper-5% of communities analyzed nationwide on April 15. The ranking considered education, health, and amenities using nearly 100 data points. MLive
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Yost Ice Arena sustained roof damage from a high-wind storm that swept through Ann Arbor early Wednesday morning, scattering metal pieces & debris into neighboring yards. The University of Michigan is assessing the damage after power outages affected thousands in Washtenaw County. MLive
- ➤ Overnight rains and strong winds on April 15 caused the wall of the Veterans Memorial Park Ice Arena to collapse — emergency crews handled more than 75 calls while Mayor Taylor surveyed damage — and the National Weather Service will determine if a tornado struck. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kent Syverud will not become the next UM president after his brain cancer diagnosis. The board said — it plans to restart the search while he continues treatment and remains a law professor and advisor. MLive
- ➤ Former Fab Five member Jalen Rose will speak at the University of Michigan commencement on Saturday, May 2 at Michigan Stadium, where he will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters and highlight his legacy while calling for the return of the Fab Five banners and praising the recent championship team.
