- ➤ Cold Truth Soft Serve is serving plant-based soft serve from the back of Bløm Mead + Cider at 100 S. Fourth Ave since April 1. Its treat, made with coconut cream and beet sugar, is available from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday to Sunday until Nov. 1. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor and San Francisco-based quantum computing startup Sygaldry Technologies secured $139M on April 14 to develop quantum-accelerated AI servers. The funds—$105M from a Series A led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures plus $34M in seed money—will support advances in energy-efficient AI training. MLive

- ➤ University of Michigan announced that Domenico Grasso will become its 16th president on May 8 & former president-elect Kent Syverud stepped down after a brain cancer diagnosis. UM Regents will soon restart the search for his successor. MLive
- ➤ Four University of Michigan professors have been named Guggenheim Fellows; Regina Baucom will research how weeds change with chemicals, Daniel Forger will use math to study music, Raven Garvey will explore wind in old cultures, and Don Moynihan will study changes in public services. MLive

- ➤ Ann Arbor city staff in high-visibility vests will document tornado damage today and Saturday in affected neighborhoods for possible disaster aid. The assessments following Wednesday’s tornado will cover homes, businesses, and infrastructure, marking the first step toward state or federal assistance. MLive

- ➤ University of Michigan students will host a 24-hour VictorThon fundraiser from 10 a.m. April 18 to 10 a.m. April 19 to raise funds for pediatric programs at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital & will feature a community carnival from 4-6 p.m. during the event. MLive
