EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dexter teacher Kelly Parachek has worked at Dexter Community Schools since 2010 and now serves as a fifth-grade coordinator and student council co-chair at Creekside Intermediate School — she leads projects like the Friday school store and a kitchen garden program whose plant sale will be held on Saturday, May 17 to raise funds. She values the 'aha' moments when her students grasp challenging ideas and grow both academically and personally.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • UMass running back CJ Hester committed to Michigan on Saturday after the spring game and will be available to play this fall with two seasons of eligibility left; he had 529 yards and four touchdowns on 119 carries last season (across 11 games) and posted his pledge on social media (Saturday evening).  MLive
  • Michigan announced Friday that it signed sixth-year punter Luke Bauer (6-foot-5, 207-pound) from Missouri for the 2025 season. Bauer, who started all 13 games last season, (turned 23 today) will compete with senior Hudson Hollenbeck for the starting role.  MLive
  • Michigan’s Blue team won 17-0 in an intrasquad spring scrimmage at Michigan Stadium on Saturday as freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood led the scoring with an 87-yard touchdown pass on the final play. The University will hold another public scrimmage next Saturday at 12:05 p.m.—with a steak dinner awarded to the winning team and hot dogs to the loser.  MLive
  • Mikey Keene transferred to Michigan and hurt his arm right before spring but is now throwing and is expected back for fall camp - Coach Sherrone Moore said he is helping young quarterbacks learn the playbook while the team keeps an eye on its options.  MLive
  • Michigan football saw a change in its running back depth after redshirt sophomore Ben Hall entered the transfer portal—junior Bryson Kuzdzal rushed for 105 yards in Saturday’s spring scrimmage. The team is now looking at Kuzdzal for a bigger role behind starters Jordan Marshall and Justice Haynes while planning to add another running back.  MLive
  • At Michigan Stadium, tight end Jalen Hoffman earned MVP honors after he caught seven passes for 148 yards and scored an 88-yard trick-play touchdown in Saturday's spring game that helped the Blue team beat the Maize 17-0 — Hoffman said he is building chemistry with teammates as he aims to play a larger role in the offense this season.  MLive
