ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Ann Arbor fire crews responded to a structure fire in the 3100 block of Wolverine Drive on Sunday, April 27 at 9:36 p.m. and prevented flames from entering the Colonial Square Cooperative building — limiting damage to the porch, electrical service and air conditioning, with officials saying the cause is under investigation and no one was injured. - ➤ One person got minor burns in a house fire started by gasoline during motorcycle repairs on the 1100 block of Gott Street in Ann Arbor on April 27 — fire crews quickly controlled the blaze and cut damage to about $100,000 — saving most of the home and its belongings. MLive
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Richard Brewer, a 34-year-old man from Ypsilanti accused of fatally stabbing Nathan Cebulsky on July 8 in Leoni Township, fled before police arrived and was arrested at 1:50 p.m. in Ann Arbor—he waived his preliminary examination on April 25 and now faces charges of open murder, home invasion and interfering with electronic communications causing death. - ➤ Gerald Jones said his mother's relationship with Luke Junior Edwards was troubled and controlling, with Edwards keeping him away from home and later being accused of killing 66-year-old Donna Marie Johnson after a money dispute — his trial resumes today after he appeared in court in a wheelchair. - ➤ A jury was chosen for the trial of Luke Junior Edwards — a Ypsilanti Township man accused of killing his wife Donna Marie Johnson, whose body was found with nine wounds and a note reading 'forgive me father' on April 11. The trial is running this week in Washtenaw County Trial Court, and prosecutors began calling witnesses around 1:30 p.m. Monday. MLive

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital is launching a two-year preservation project that will restore trails—remove invasive species and protect native species on 103 acres of its campus. The project, funded by a $400,000 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation—will also improve the boardwalk and stairways and offer volunteer opportunities through the Huron River Watershed Council.
