- ➤ Main Street Ann Arbor will host Ladies Night Out on Friday, May 16 with deals, discounts and a $20 wine tasting at Vinology Wine Bar plus special hotel offers from Vanguard and AC Hotel Ann Arbor Downtown as 20 local businesses participate. MLive

- ➤ The Art Center will host its 17th annual Artini fundraiser on Saturday, June 20 at downtown venues, where 13 bars will serve custom cocktails (using Mammoth Distilling spirits) with each attendee receiving seven drink tickets to support art programs during the Summer Streets program. MLive
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ DTE Energy filed a request with state regulators Tuesday, April 28 to raise rates by $474.3 million; if approved fully, typical residential bills would jump nearly 9.7%. The filing— a 10-month rate case— may secure a two-year freeze on future hikes if new power demand conditions are met. MLive

- ➤ Mingyan Liu, associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Engineering, will become the new dean effective May 15 as she replaces Karen Thole and leads the college through July 31, 2029. MLive

- ➤ Ann Arbor becomes the first city-owned utility to install solar panels and battery systems on homes, with work underway in the Bryant neighborhood. The project, which began with 150 homes (initial phase) and will expand to 1,000 by 2027, tests cleaner energy solutions for grid reliability and lower bills. MLive

- ➤ The Michigan Attorney General's Office is investigating Florida-based Black Bear Sports Group *a firm owning several ice arenas statewide* for potential antitrust violations after it acquired facilities in Hudsonville, Holland, Kalamazoo, and Ann Arbor; the company said it was unaware of any inquiry. - ➤ Superhero Day at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital brought over 400 patients and families together to meet heroes, decorate masks, and receive free toys on Tuesday, Apr. 28. The event also offered superhero-themed onesies for neonatal ICU patients — a special touch for little ones in need. MLive
