- ➤ Mama's Pizza and Curry House in Ypsilanti at 5 N. Hamilton St. now offers a creative PB&J pizza invented by owner Sam Motheram after his daughter loved its taste. The menu also features pizzas with ground beef, chocolate chips and banana slices, and he donates free pizzas to local centers. MLive
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Sonic Lunch will feature 12 openers from local and national artists in a free concert series at Liberty Plaza, with events scheduled from June 4 through Aug. 27 and headliner details to be released on May 6 on 107one’s Facebook page. MLive
- ➤ UMS announced its 2026-27 season featuring 38 performances set at local venues from Sept. 25 to May. The season will offer classical, jazz and dance events, including a final season concert by the Cleveland Orchestra and recitals by Yo-Yo Ma at Hill Auditorium. MLive

- ➤ Ann Arbor Public Schools fired Community High teacher Emma Hamstra in June after complaints about her classroom content, but a state order reinstated her + she remains on leave while the district reviews next steps. MLive
- ➤ Three University of Michigan professors (Banerjee, Burns, and Levina) were elected to the National Academy of Sciences for research achievements, per a Michigan News announcement on April 29. They were also named to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, adding to the university’s honors. MLive

- ➤ Ahead of the University of Michigan’s spring commencement on May 2, Ann Arbor restaurants offer walk-in meals for families such as Frita Batidos on Washington Street, Detroit Street Filling Station near Kerrytown, Zingerman’s Deli, Chela’s Restaurant and Ricewood on Maple Road — a simple fix for last-minute dining needs. - ➤ Michigan running back Jordan Marshall defended former coach Sherrone Moore during a recent podcast and praised new coach Kyle Whittingham for his energy as the Wolverines transition to a disciplined season.
