- ➤ Manchester Community Schools will host their annual art show featuring student artwork with a farm theme, farm animal visit and STEM activity from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at the Manchester District Library (912 City Road). MLive
- ➤ The University of Michigan has launched a two-year pilot program providing up to $4,000 in immigration legal services for eligible staff and extra free consultation for students; the program was designed following Faculty Senate concerns and will complement existing international visa support across campuses. - ➤ The Washtenaw County Road Commission announced major road work starting May 4 that will affect highways and local roads. Drivers should expect delays at Island Lake Road intersections and on U.S. 23, where lane restrictions and closures will extend into September + further in other areas. MLive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Michigan Medicine notified 551 patients on May 1 about potential unauthorized access to health records from Oct. 18, 2023 to Nov. 12, 2025. The center is reviewing safeguards with Epic Systems+ working with relevant parties to prevent future breaches. MLive
- ➤ University of Michigan postdoctoral fellow Mark Milner has received a Next Generation Research Grant to study if blocking reactive brain cells may reverse vision loss in MS. His two-year research uses a repurposed drug & he aims to share his findings by the end of 2027. MLive

- ➤ Saline senior Casey Griffin earned Ann Arbor-area Athlete of the Week honors after a five-game run with six hits + a home run, five RBIs, and five runs for the Hornets. Local voters gave her more than 25% of the total votes last week. MLive
- ➤ Three Wolverines — Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson Jr., and Aday Mara — were invited to the NBA draft combine in Chicago from May 10 to 17, while starting point guard Elliot Cadeau was not selected; coach Dusty May said players who declare do not get recruited back. MLive
