- ➤ The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just before midnight on May 7 at a home on Hewitt Road (north of Congress Street) in Ypsilanti Township when a 74 year old father fatally shot his 34 year old son during a domestic dispute and no arrests were made. - ➤ Residents near Arbor Hills Landfill voiced concerns about a proposed expansion that would add a new landfill north of the current site—residents point to odor issues as neighborhoods have grown since the original dump began 50 years ago. GFL Environmental proposed the expansion to address capacity needs and officials will review the plan at a Materials Management Planning Committee meeting on May 21, with a decision expected within the next year.
