ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A small SUV caught fire while refueling at 5:45 p.m. May 10 at the Kroger Fuel Station at 1303 Anna J. Stepp Drive (in Ypsilanti Township) and was destroyed quickly (no injuries were reported) as station employees shut off the pump immediately.  MLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Weber's Restaurant is a nearly 85-year-old, family-owned steakhouse and bar on Jackson Road that serves classic American food under the direction of Brian and Michael Weber. The establishment also runs an attached hotel and banquet center — a tradition that has long defined its service.  MLive
  • Michigan’s annual report on liquor sales revealed that over 12,000 establishments spent nearly $1.9 billion on distilled spirits in 2024—showing that top bars in all 83 counties set the pace, with Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena topping the list by exceeding $1 million in sales. In Washtenaw County, Ann Arbor’s Last Word recorded $288,002, while other counties like Mackinac led on sales per resident.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tabe—a new fusion restaurant—offers Asian-inspired dishes like sushi tacos and beef short ribs with wasabi mashed potatoes at the old Jim Brady’s location on Main Street. The restaurant is open 3:30 to 11:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.  MLive

  • Domino’s founder Tom Monaghan’s Retreat at Turtle Point — a 40-plus acre estate with a 10,000-square foot main home, three residences and many leisure features — is listed at $8.75M and is found just seven minutes north of Ann Arbor.  MLive

  • Carter Meadows, a four star edge rusher from Gonzaga College High School who is ranked in the top 100 nationally, named Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State & South Carolina among his final four schools for the 2026 class.
