- ➤ Nichols Arboretum staff discovered the vandalized peony garden early Sunday, June 1 at 6:14 a.m.—about a third of the plants were cut and roughly 100 flyers with conflict-related messages were found, sparking anger among residents as the University condemned the act as wholly unacceptable. - ➤ Protesters vandalized one third of the University of Michigan’s peony garden at Nichols Arboretum over the weekend by removing about 250 blooms and leaving flyers with pro-Palestinian messages—staff discovered the damage at 6:14 a.m. Sunday, June 1 and repairs began as new blossoms appeared by Monday. - ➤ Ann Arbor City Council approved contracts on Monday, June 2, totaling about $1.4 million to install solar panels at Larcom City Hall & Justice Center, Fire Station 1 & Bicentennial Park, with the park panels paired with electric vehicle charging stations. The contracts, funded by a federal grant, will upgrade city properties as the community works toward a carbon-neutral goal by 2030. MLive
