- ➤ Ahmo’s Gyros & Deli is moving to a new restaurant on South State Street near the University of Michigan and will open in three months or so, while its former East Huron Street location will soon become a Yemeni cafe operated by Jabal Coffee House. MLive
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Nichols Arboretum staff discovered the vandalized peony garden early Sunday, June 1 at 6:14 a.m.—about a third of the plants were cut and roughly 100 flyers with conflict-related messages were found, sparking anger among residents as the University condemned the act as wholly unacceptable. MLive
- ➤ Protesters vandalized one third of the University of Michigan’s peony garden at Nichols Arboretum over the weekend by removing about 250 blooms and leaving flyers with pro-Palestinian messages—staff discovered the damage at 6:14 a.m. Sunday, June 1 and repairs began as new blossoms appeared by Monday. - ➤ Thursday’s Sonic Lunch concert series will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Liberty & Division with Joe Hertler opening before Mike Posner and Brody Jenner perform at noon, while Posner will bring his family. Organizer Matthew Altruda said he did not expect to add Jenner when booking the show and noted that the event is designed to be a safe, family-friendly introduction to live music. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ann Arbor City Council approved contracts on Monday, June 2, totaling about $1.4 million to install solar panels at Larcom City Hall & Justice Center, Fire Station 1 & Bicentennial Park, with the park panels paired with electric vehicle charging stations. The contracts, funded by a federal grant, will upgrade city properties as the community works toward a carbon-neutral goal by 2030. MLive

- ➤ Michigan's hockey team secured a commitment from goalie Jack Ivankovic from the Brampton Steelheads, one of the top-ranked 2025 NHL draft prospects who will join incoming freshman Stephen Peck. The team looks to replace its lost netminders from last season after graduation + transfer. MLive
- ➤ Michigan's wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy said he is excited about the revamped offense as experienced players, transfers, and incoming recruits strengthen the team after a strong spring.
