- ➤ Anthony Flanagan, accused of fatally stabbing Susan Hammerton in her Pittsfield Township home, will undergo additional psychiatric testing ordered on June 3 by Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Carol Kuhnke + previous tests showed he can understand court proceedings while his sanity at the time of the killing remains in question. - ➤ Jovaughn London Smith, a 20-year-old man, waived his right to a preliminary examination on June 17 and will stand trial on two felonies in Washtenaw County Trial Court for a drunken driving crash that killed his former football teammate—charges include operating while intoxicated causing death and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury. - ➤ On June 6, the city's parks department used a lethal trap—banned four years ago—to remove dam-building beavers from a creek at Leslie Park Golf Course. The department worked with the county water resources office as it weighed both lethal and nonlethal solutions. MLive
