CRIME NEWS

  • Michigan State Police are looking for a suspect for a shooting that hit four homes in Augusta Township Tuesday night (on Tuttle Hill Road) with some houses struck nearly a dozen times and no injuries reported.  WXYZ
  • Ann Arbor police said a badly decomposed body was found (Tuesday, June 17 at 5 p.m.) in the 400 block of S. Maple Road (the scene of a suspicious death) and are investigating the case.  MLive

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Campsite B3 in Pinckney Recreation Area’s Blind Lake rustic campground—reached after a 7-mile hike on the Potawatomi Trail—is the state’s most booked site with over 150 advanced reservations in both 2023 and 2024; each site has a vault toilet, hand-pump water and fire rings for one-night stays. The state park lies just 30 minutes from Ann Arbor and draws outdoor enthusiasts with its lake views.  MLive

  • Michigan football hosted five-star prospect Savion Hiter — a top-20 player from Louisa County High in Virginia — on an official visit last weekend as the Wolverines aim to secure the top-ranked running back for their 2026 recruiting class while a review of the program’s top-10 running back recruits shows a strong tradition in building a solid backfield.  MLive
  • Michigan secured a commitment from Micah Drescher, a kicker and punter from Hinsdale Central in Illinois who is ranked as the No. 4 kicker nationally by Chris Sailer Kicking. He announced his decision on social media and chose Michigan over offers from UConn, Northwestern, Air Force and Army.  MLive
  • Michigan football added veteran transfer quarterback Jake Garcia— a fifth-year senior— to boost depth in an inexperienced and injured quarterback room. Officials say his addition will give the team an extra option if injuries to key players like Mikey Keene and Davis Warren persist as they prepare for the 2025 season.  MLive
