On Saturday, July 4, kids rode bikes and a firetruck led a two-lap parade in the Dicken neighborhood at Las Vegas Park to mark America’s 250th birthday.

The event (started by new resident Hillary Levasseur in 2020) has grown into a cherished local tradition.

Michigan health officials are investigating a large cyclosporiasis outbreak that has sickened over 300 people in Monroe, Lenawee, Washtenaw, Wayne, Shiawassee, Jackson and Livingston counties—levels much higher than the usual 50 cases each year.

They are working to trace the common exposure and advise residents on proper food safety.
