- ➤ Ben Osenbaugh and his golden lab Dolly were honored yesterday for finding 82-year-old Ralph Yang alive after a 51-hour search near Ann Arbor. Osenbaugh joined a community search effort and found Yang with no visible injuries on June 25. MLive

- ➤ The Ann Arbor Art Fair held from July 17 to 19 achieved record sales and strong attendance despite closing early at 5 p.m. Saturday due to weather concerns (final attendance numbers and economic impact details are still pending). MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A gravel mine seeking a permit near Ann Arbor has raised worries about water, noise, and dust that a nearby school said pose a serious public health concern for nearly 200 students and staff. After returning from vacation in July 2023, Robin Kunkel discovered her home’s well water had a lower level—neighbors in the township reported similar shortages. MLive

- ➤ The Augusta Township Board of Trustees voted on July 22 to rezone 522 acres near Milan for a $1B computer data center campus—restricted solely to a high-tech computing facility. The decision moves the project closer to its planned development despite concerns from some residents. MLive
- ➤ The Ann Arbor City Council approved a $1.15 million road maintenance project for Seventh Street on Monday, July 21 to remove and replace the upper two inches of asphalt and repair ADA ramps between Miller Avenue and Lutz Street. The work will start in late August or early September and finish by mid-October – traffic will be detoured during each phase. MLive
- ➤ Ann Arbor City Council voted 6 to 2 on July 21 to ask the Planning Commission to revise the proposed land-use plan to limit new residential density+ the decision follows months of community debate+. MLive

- ➤ Ann Arbor’s Broadway Park West project used $17.3 million in tax incentives plus over $20 million in state funding and $10 million in private donations to transform a polluted riverfront, and it will soon enter its next phase — adding a park next to new condos, retail spaces, a hotel and a restaurant.
