🎓 Education
University of Michigan Medical School announced that Dr. Thomas Wang, a Harvard-trained Texas physician, will become its new dean on Sept.
15, replacing Dr. Marschall Runge who stepped down earlier this year—Wang holds tenure in internal medicine and brings leadership experience from UT Southwestern.
🏛️ Government
Overnight closures on Interstate 94 in Washtenaw County began on July 28 for a resurfacing project, with detours set up for both westbound and eastbound lanes and will continue through mid-August.
MDOT said each nightly closure runs from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.—different segments have specific detour routes.
Dexter Township planners voted Tuesday, July 22 to recommend allowing short-term vacation rentals only on properties zoned for general commercial or agricultural uses—rentals will not be allowed on lakes.
The decision aims to limit lakeside vacation rentals while still offering options in other zones.
