BUSINESS NEWS

  • An Ann Arbor hotel, the Residence Inn on West Huron (Downtown Ann Arbor), is being sued after a guest claimed that her pool visit on June 24 exposed her to unsanitary water (no chlorine and unsafe pH levels) that led to a serious infection requiring hospitalization and surgeries. She is seeking over $25,000 in damages after the hotel allegedly failed to shut down the pool or warn other guests.  WXYZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • The 2008 Michigan Tigers FC team from Ann Arbor won the U-17 USYS national championship on July 26—former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh offered words of encouragement before the match.  MLive
  • District 4 softball rallied from a 2—0 deficit by scoring three runs in the fifth inning and a home run by Laureena Baehl to secure a 4-2 win in their World Series opener. The team is now Central Region Champions — they earned the title after allowing only two runs in seven matchups at states and regionals.  MLive
