GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ann Arbor city council approved a resolution on Aug 7 to review marijuana rules after dispensary owner Raymond Somich said his Kings High store lost nearly one million dollars due to a rule that requires dispensaries to be 1,000 feet from K–12 schools — the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and may recommend a temporary reduction in the distance to help new stores open — as part of the review. This action follows complaints that outdated regulations are hindering business operations. MLive

- ➤ Michigan Medicine sent postcards without envelopes that revealed sensitive health details on June 27—affecting over 1,000 patients. The research team stopped mailings and will review safeguards to better protect patient privacy. MLive
