BUSINESS NEWS

  • Workers at Exclusive Ann Arbor picketed outside the cannabis retail store on Aug. 28 to protest union-busting actions—union representatives joined the picket to support a push for union rights.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Two faith-based groups, JewBelong and Christian Broadcasting Networking, with help from Regent University, put up four billboards near the University of Michigan on Aug. 18 to warn of rising antisemitism on campus. The billboards, which show messages like 'Jewish students don’t need your pity—Just your spine,' will remain on select Ann Arbor streets until October and November and may reach over 18 million people.  MLive

  • The Dallas Cowboys claimed former Michigan offensive lineman Trevor Keegan on waivers after the Eagles waived him — he played three seasons as a starter and earned all-Big Ten honors.  MLive
  • Saline rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Rockford 37-28 at Carlson Munger Stadium on Aug. 28 — setting them up for a home opener against Ann Arbor Skyline.  MLive
  • The Ann Arbor Pioneer football team beat Flushing 27-24 in overtime at their season opener on August 28—freelance photojournalist Josh Boland captured key moments on and off the field.  MLive
  • Michigan named five-star freshman Bryce Underwood as the starting quarterback and he will lead the team in the season opener against New Mexico on Saturday. Coach Sherrone Moore said Underwood earned the job with hard work—his rise from top recruit to team leader brings optimism for the season.  MLive
  • Sodexo Live! has introduced new food and drink options for Michigan Stadium fans for the 2025 season, including the Mitten Burger and Fries, Chicken and Waffle Bowl, and Loaded Funnel Cake plus several other choices at different areas of the stadium.   • Michigan kicker Dominic Zvada made a 70-yard field goal in practice at Michigan Stadium and said he wants to help his team reach the playoff, while special teams coach J.B.-Brown said he will work with him to push his range above 60 yards in future games.  MLive
