  • A Chinese research scholar at University of Michigan was sentenced to time served yesterday and will be deported after pleading no contest to smuggling biological materials for research—officials said she misrepresented her shipment details during customs checks.  WXYZ

  • Kyler, an endangered Great Lakes piping plover hatched in Wilderness State Park two years ago, is wintering in the South with one of his chicks—he has fledged a total of seven chicks to date.  MLive

  • Former House Speaker Tom Leonard called for a federal investigation of Attorney General Dana Nessel after a judge dismissed charges in a fake electors case, ruling that the 15 defendants had no intent to defraud in the 2020 election. Leonard, now running for governor, said Nessel abused her power—acting as an activist instead of a prosecutor.  MLive
