  • The Ann Arbor Police Department posted a Facebook video on Sept. 13 recommending six local food spots near Michigan Stadium for football fans — the list includes Hoover Street Auto Repair’s barbecue, Top Dog’s hot dogs, Little Caesars Pizza, Drip House’s coffee and treats, Ritespice Kitchen’s South Asian snacks, and the T. Wall Foundation’s pop-up supporting children with special needs.  MLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • At 1116 S University Ave near the University of Michigan campus, over 250 people waited overnight for Raising Cane’s new opening on Sept. 16. Noah Lombardo, a UM junior who camped for more than 14 hours, was first served—students enjoyed a raffle and live performances for a unique late-night dining option.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Some Ann Arbor residents said the Treeline trail pedestrian bridge over North Main Street is too costly, but City Council reaffirmed its support with a 10-0 vote on Sept 15—keeping the project on track.  MLive
  • Ann Arbor City Council voted 10-0 Monday night, Sept. 15 to temporarily reduce the 1,000-foot rule so that some marijuana dispensaries can operate near schools in two areas — a move intended to keep the businesses running.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Patients, staff and volunteers marched through C.S. Mott Children's Hospital to show kids fighting cancer they are not alone. The parade lifted hope for families as 18 month old Sophia Ginopolis and 21 year old Molly Felty felt strong support+ uniting the community during tough times.  WXYZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nineteen fans were ejected from Michigan Stadium during the season’s first two home football games, with 11 removed in the opener against New Mexico and 8 during the Sept. 13 game against Central Michigan. Officials noted that 3 fans were removed for fighting, 3 for disorderly behavior, and 1 each for a fake ID and alcohol use—details that highlight the strict enforcement of game rules.  MLive
