COMMUNITY NEWS

  • City Council voted Monday—Oct. 6—to approve a Trick or Treat Parade on Main Street for Sunday, Oct. 26. Participants will gather outside the library at 11:30 a.m. and the parade will start at noon while downtown streets are closed for safety.  MLive
  • Victoria Ross, who plans fun activities at Clarendale, held a special wedding dress and groom reveal for the residents—who clapped and cheered at her hidden shorter skirt and twirl. The couple, who got married on June 28, shared happy moments with the seniors—before starting their European honeymoon cruise and planning to build a new home in Grass Lake.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washtenaw County is developing guidance to help local governments navigate data center proposals that may jeopardize carbon neutrality goals—three projects are proposed with more expected.  MLive
  • Construction has begun at the Tuttle Hill Road and Meritt Road intersection in Ypsilanti Township where workers are installing rapid flashing beacons and new pavement markings after a 14-year-old was killed, and a community meeting is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m.—at Ypsilanti Township Hall—to discuss further safety plans.  WXYZ
  • Ann Arbor secured a $10.8M federal grant for a renewable energy project that will help lower the city's carbon emissions—officials had worried the funding might have been lost under past policies.  MLive
  • A third draft of Ann Arbor's growth plan is now open for public review and details how the city will shift to denser, mixed-use neighborhoods. The 167-page document—developed over two years by the city's planning team under City Council direction—sets the stage for future changes.  MLive
