EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ann Arbor Public Schools did better on state tests last spring compared to other schools in Washtenaw County, but many students (including those of color, English-language learners, and those facing economic or learning challenges) still lag behind. Officials plan professional development (teacher training, new curriculum, and student surveys) to close the gaps.  MLive
  • Ann Arbor school leaders said the state budget will add $22.9M to public schools with nearly $18.6M increasing per-student funding—though they remain cautious about spending cuts elsewhere. The new funds will support local schools for the rest of the school year.  MLive
