  • Ann Arbor’s new Spores Cafe on South State offers drinks and snacks infused with mushrooms—as carts with bright signs have promoted the shop around the University since September. The cafe first appeared at Entheofest on Sept.21 and its legal status remains unclear under state and federal law.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities have not authorized charges against two protesters arrested Wednesday night at UM during an event organized by Students Supporting Israel featuring Israeli Defense Force soldiers—protesters gathered Thursday morning at the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Service Center to demand the release of the arrested individuals.  MLive

  • Gov. Whitmer pardoned Lue Yang, a Hmong refugee who has lived in the United States for 46 years — he still faces deportation to Laos because an old conviction was expunged. Yang's family and advocates urge ICE and DHS to reverse his removal order — they say he is not a flight risk and his deep ties keep him rooted in Michigan.  MLive
