- ➤ A new tunnel path opened on the Border-to-Border Trail—linking Bandemer Park to the Barton Nature Area along the Huron River—at a grand opening celebrated by hundreds. Dan Ezekiel, a longtime local, said the tunnel lets cyclists bypass heavy traffic on North Main and enjoy a safe ride on Huron River Drive. MLive
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Michigan ports such as Alpena, Detroit and Mackinac Island will welcome cruise ships in 2026 as six lines, including American Cruise Lines with its new American Patriot, plan to sail the Great Lakes from April to October. Forecasts show the season will generate $300 million in economic impact + over 800 port visits as more than 23,000 passengers set sail. MLive

- ➤ Over 400 Ann Arbor parents have signed a petition asking the school district to ban mobile devices from bell to bell to cut distractions and support student well-being—officials had already piloted a classroom cellphone ban to help students focus during lessons. MLive

- ➤ Ann Arbor plans to complete a large-scale geothermal energy network in the Bryant neighborhood by 2028. The city’s sustainability office announced the goal on Nov. 4 — it will now finalize system design and begin the contracting process in the coming months. MLive
