COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A new documentary about an Ann Arbor police investigation is now online at the Ann Arbor District Library website—after premiering at the Michigan Theater on Nov. 9. Community leaders took part in a panel discussion at the screening to talk about its lasting effects. MLive
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ CD Top Shelf, a modern sports bar owned by the sandwich chain Chop Detroit, will open at Biggby Coffee Ice Cube, 2121 Oak Valley Drive in the next 30 to 60 days to serve fans with pizza, chicken tenders and fried foods. The glass room looks over the stadium arena — it still needs a certificate of occupancy and a liquor license before it can serve customers. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Stacy Maier completed a conservation easement that protects 26 acres of farmland and forest along Mill Creek in Lima Township from future development — fulfilling her late husband Craig's dream. The legal agreement keeps the land privately owned while preserving its natural state. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ann Arbor city council voted 7-0 on Nov. 6 to ban parking along the south side of Brockman Boulevard—from Brock Court to Ferdon Road—to make room for a redesigned sidewalk that also protects trees. The project will fill gaps in the sidewalk network in 2026 and is part of the city's efforts to create a safer, greener street. MLive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Flushing High School junior Maddie Walker was diagnosed with a rare lymphoma on Oct. 8 and began her second round of chemotherapy at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital on Nov. 10; her community showed strong support as Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson carried a water jug reading 'Fight it out—Maddie' to honor her fight. The gesture lifted spirits on the pediatric oncology floor and underscored the close community ties during her treatment. MLive
- ➤ Trinity Health Ann Arbor will begin a $60.5 million renovation and expansion of its emergency department this month. The project updates 44,600 square feet and adds 13,100 square feet to meet growing healthcare needs in Washtenaw County and will be completed in phases by late 2028. MLive
