ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fireworks incident caused a fire at the Bandemer Park rowing dock on Nov. 9 at about 6:30 a.m., damaging it by more than $15K—rowing community members expressed heartbreak over the loss.  MLive

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Avalon Cafe and Kitchen moved in January from Liberty Street to Main Street next to Pretzel Bell — still serving its popular breakfast and brunch dishes, including a weekly special of chicken and waffles at $10 — and continues to welcome local diners.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Michigan International Speedway announced on Nov. 6 that all infield camping slots for the 2026 NASCAR weekend sold out, seven months ahead of the popular race weekend — June 5-7 — hosted in the Irish Hills.  MLive
  • The No. 18 Michigan Wolverines kept the George Jewett Trophy with a gritty 24-22 comeback win over the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field—freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Bryson Kuzdzal led a late drive that ended with a game-winning field goal by Dominic Zvada.  All About Ann Arbor
  • On October 18, the Michigan Wolverines faced the Northwestern Wildcats at historic Wrigley Field in a rivalry contest for the George Jewett Trophy, which is named after a pioneering African American player in college football. The game marked the first time the teams met at Wrigley Field as Northwestern’s usual stadium was under construction, and Michigan maintained a strong series lead with trophy wins in 2021 and last year.  All About Ann Arbor
