  • Volunteers and community partners are restoring Woodlawn Cemetery in Ypsilanti, a historic Black burial ground abandoned in the 1960s where nearly 200 graves lie hidden. They are using ground-penetrating radar + clearing thick brush to better document the site so families can honor their loved ones.  All About Ann Arbor

EDUCATION NEWS

  • TIME's Best Colleges for Future Leaders 2026 list released yesterday ranked four Michigan colleges among the nation's top 125, with the University of Michigan at No. 11, Michigan State University at No. 40, and Wayne State University plus Central Michigan University at No. 83 and No. 119 respectively—based on evaluations of key career milestones.  MLive
  • Ann Arbor Public Schools will meet at 9 a.m. today to discuss a plan to ban cellphones in classrooms — teachers and parents say the change is needed to cut distractions and improve learning. A petition with 755 signatures backed the proposal — and officials will consider new rules for phone use during school hours.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nine Michigan communities received conditional commitments for grants ranging from $151,000 to $4.39 million on Nov. 19 to fund projects such as new pedestrian crossings, lighting, sidewalks and bike path improvements. MDOT announced the awards to help address a rise in crashes involving pedestrians and cyclists—efforts that aim to boost road safety statewide.  MLive
  • About 45 residents met in a Saline Township barn Thursday evening—organizing to oppose a planned 2.2-million-square-foot data center on 575 acres involving OpenAI, Oracle and Related Companies. They cited concerns over light pollution, farmland misuse and environmental risks as they work to stall the project before the Michigan Public Service Commission hearing on Dec. 4.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • University of Michigan Health will host its largest single-day blood drive on Sunday, Nov. 23rd at Michigan Stadium from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Jack Roth Stadium Club — the event is part of the Blood Battle with Ohio State and offers donors a chance to register as organ or bone marrow donors while earning entry into prize drawings.  MLive

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A historic house where WWII hero Raoul Wallenberg lived during his freshman year at the University of Michigan will be moved across campus on Saturday, Nov. 22 with street closures in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.—part of a project to add over 2,300 new student beds.  ClickOnDetroit.com

  • On November 20, 2025, the University of Michigan regents said they did not support the $2.4 billion Big Ten deal that would give UC Investments a 10% stake in Big Ten Enterprises while they stayed committed to the conference.
