ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire at The Haven of Ann Arbor on Village Green Blvd on Sunday, Dec. 21 displaced about 48 residents and damaged 24 units as authorities began investigating the cause.  MLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Cinnaholic, a vegan bakery featured on Shark Tank at 121 E. Liberty St., will serve its last customers on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Owner Doug Moeller said the shop will run as normal until closing while fulfilling holiday catering orders (he did not share a reason for the decision).  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stephen Pollock, a beloved University of Michigan engineering professor (89), died on Nov. 13 in an assisted living home in Ann Arbor. Colleagues praised his clear teaching and warm presence, noting that he coined the term ‘industrial and operations engineering’ to describe his field.  MLive

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Ann Arbor officials plan zoning reforms next year to allow higher-density housing along Washtenaw Avenue so the city can add 15,000 to 20,000 units over coming decades. The changes aim to ease rising rents and support affordable options for vulnerable households + address community needs.  MLive
