- ➤ Downtown Home and Garden closed its doors on Christmas Eve after nearly 120 years at the Ashley Street location because of rising rents and changing consumer habits. The property owner said the space may become a bar+restaurant as three local groups show interest in preserving its history. WXYZ
- ➤ Bev’s Bagels, led by owner Max Sussman, will open a second location next summer at 115 E. Liberty St (repurposing the former Liberty Street Robot Supply and Repair space) to offer bagels, sandwiches and a community space for Ann Arbor locals. MLive
- ➤ The University of Michigan will partner with Japanese sportswear maker ASICS to launch the ASICS x Michigan Sport Innovation Center, a research hub that will advance athlete performance and sport science via a $25 million investment announced on Dec. 19. The collaboration will engage UM and industry experts on campus. MLive

- ➤ Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson released data showing the Pure Michigan plate (8.3 million issued) accounted for 71.5% of the state’s 11.7 million license plates in 2025, with designs supporting causes, veterans and university pride also popular.
