✂Crafternoon at Art Works! Studio

About this event

Crafternoon at Art Works! Studio Child-led. Materials-rich. Screen-free. Crafternoon is a relaxed, open-studio craft experience for children and families who want time, space, and thoughtfully curated materials to create—without step-by-step instruction. This is not a traditional art class. Instead, Crafternoon offers a supportive creative environment where kids are free to follow their curiosity, work independently, or collaborate with family members. A teaching artist is present to offer guidance, encouragement, and technical support as needed—while honoring each maker’s individual process. Children may be dropped off and work independently in the studio. Parents may choose to sign up for open studio ($10 fee, materials not included) or assist their child for no extra cost. Each session features a rotating selection of prepared craft kits and materials, designed to encourage exploration, problem-solving, and imaginative play. Projects are child-led, allowing participants to choose what—and how—they make. Families are welcome to create together, and participants may also request help with a specific idea or unfinished project. Crafternoon is ideal for: • Kids who love to make at their own pace • Families seeking creative time together • Screen-free, hands-on learning • Makers who want community without pressure Rotating project options may include: Shrinky Dink charms • Bead crafts • Hand-sewn stuffies • Origami & paper arts • Mindful coloring & zen doodle card-making • Rock painting • Tissue paper flowers (Mexican-style) • Artist Trading Cards • Decorated cardboard jigsaw puzzles. Think of Crafternoon as a joyful mix of nostalgia and discovery—a materials paradise where imagination leads the way. Space is limited to maintain a calm, supportive studio environment. Pricing: $19 per child, per hour Materials included. Specialty materials may be available for an additional fee. Advance registration required. Questions or special requests?
