We Still Outside: Fall Campout

We’re not packing the camping gear away just because summer is over.

Hike & Dine is heading back outside for a full We Still Outside: Fall Campout Weekend, November 14–16 at Brighton Recreation Area. We’re bringing together camping, food, games, hiking and plenty of time around the fire for one last big outdoor weekend before winter settles in.

Fall camping hits a little different. Cooler air, earlier sunsets, warm food cooking around camp and everybody bundled up around the fire. We’re taking that atmosphere and turning it into a full Hike & Dine weekend.

THE WEEKEND

This isn’t a weekend where everybody disappears into their tents after dinner. We’ll have activities happening throughout the campout while still leaving room to relax and enjoy your own campsite.

Campfires & Late-Night Hangouts

Bundle up, grab a chair and settle in around the fire. We’ll have plenty of time to kick back, talk, laugh and enjoy those colder fall nights at camp.

Chili & Soup Cook-Off

Bring out your best pot! Campers can enter our friendly chili and soup competition, while the rest of us get the very important job of tasting. Whether it’s a family recipe, something spicy or your own camp creation, come ready to represent.

Night Hike

Once the sun goes down, we’re hitting the trail. Grab your headlamp, lantern or flashlight and experience the woods after dark with the group. We’ll keep it organized and move together while taking in a completely different side of the outdoors.

Camp Wars

The campsites are going head-to-head. Expect team challenges, games, laughs and some friendly competition around camp. Bring that competitive energy because bragging rights are absolutely involved.

Detroit Dance-Off

Camping does not mean we forgot where we’re from. We’re bringing some Detroit energy to the campground with music, dancing and a little friendly competition.

Fall Hiking & Outdoor Time

We’ll make time to get out on the trails and enjoy Brighton Recreation Area during one of the best times of year to be in the woods.

YOUR CAMPSITE

Campers will stay on electric campsites with 20, 30 and 50-amp electrical service, a fire pit and picnic table. Sites have partial shade, level grass ground cover and access to a nearby water spigot.

Each site allows up to two vehicles and is pet friendly.

Bring your tent, trailer, or RV, sleeping setup, cooking equipment, heaters, chairs and everything you need to make your campsite comfortable for a cooler November weekend.

BE READY FOR FALL CAMPING

November camping in Michigan is a completely different experience from camping in July or August. Temperatures can drop significantly at night, and weather conditions can change quickly.

Come prepared with a proper sleeping bag, insulated sleep system, layers, warm clothing, weather protection and the right gear for colder nights.

Our Camp Like a Pro 201 experience is happening ahead of the campout and will focus specifically on the skills, gear and preparation that make fall camping safer, warmer and more comfortable.

FOOD

The Chili & Soup Cook-Off will be one of our featured food activities, but campers should still plan and pack meals, snacks and drinks for the weekend unless otherwise stated.

Bring your camp stove, cooking setup, cooler and whatever you need to eat comfortably throughout the trip. Part of the fun is seeing what everybody cooks up at camp.

COME FOR THE CAMPING. STAY FOR THE EXPERIENCE.

You don’t have to be an expert camper to join us. You just need to be willing to prepare, get outside and experience something different with the community.

Come set up camp. Hit the trail after dark. Put your chili recipe to the test. Jump into Camp Wars. Dance. Sit around the fire. Laugh too loud. Wake up to that crisp fall air and do it all over again.
